Hi there.
Hope all with you this Friday the 13th!
Not that I'm really
superstitious - I didn't realise it was Friday the 13th until my
daughter told me that she had three exams today. She wasn't happy that
she was doing exams in her three least favourite subjects on Friday the
13th - physics, maths and geography! She looked quite happy when she
left for school this morning so I hope things go well for her today -
Good luck to my little MissG.

grand theatre
Our
book club met at the Grand Theatre in Lancaster to see the performance
of Lady Chatterley's Lover by the Hull Truck Theatre Company. It was
brilliant! It was very cleverly acted out by just three performers
playing all the characters. It really was fantastic. If you get the
chance to see it then do go - I would definitely recommend it.
We
are very lucky that we have two local theatres that have a great
variety of performers. We are going to see Jenny Eclair in a couple of
weeks time - although I have seen a number of plays I have not yet been
to see a stand-up comedian. I'm really looking forward to seeing her.

lady chatterley
3'6 in 1960 now £3 on ebay! |
I spent a lovely relaxing hour in my summerhouse reading Lady Chatterley's Lover! I know I should have been tackling the ironing pile (which is so large that it resembles the leaning tower of Pisa) but somehow I just couldn't quite face it. I decided that I deserved a little bit of 'me time' so I took myself off into my little haven in the garden to read the next few chapters.
Although I knew that the book was a bit risque I didn't know the actual story. It wouldn't normally be my choice of reading matter but I have recently joined a book club and we decided that we should read this as we are going to see the play at our local theatre tomorrow night. I'm not sure if I'll manage to finish it in time. I still don't know how the story ends so I may have to go to bed early tonight!
Our book club meets up every 4-6 weeks and we take turns to host and choose the next book. Our group is not at all highbrow (maybe some of the girls are but they hide it well!) we are a bunch of Mums who enjoy a good read, a good chat, a good laugh and a nice glass of wine. Although we do 'talk books' and review our recent reads we also manage to cover a plethora of interesting subjects (I couldn't possibly divulge). We all have children and it is comforting to know that other families are going through the same trials and tribulations - some children moving up to secondary school, some doings GCSE's, A Levels, University etc. It's good to talk - I always come home feeling so much less stressed!
Anyway, I'm looking forward to going out to see the play tomorrow night. I'm off to bed to find out how the story ends!

teething trouble!
I lost my
blog! I decided to update my 'theme' so I spent ages selecting a new
theme only to upload a blank screen! Oops, back to the drawing board!
I am going to try to stick with this one so I hope you like it. I am
going to select an image to use as my header next so I hope I don't end
up with a blank screen again. Keep your fingers crossed!
